About Ireland In Focus
YOUR HOST & GUIDE: Ciaran McHugh
Ireland In Focus is built around a simple idea: to help guests experience Ireland as visitors rarely do. Through hidden places, local friendships and a relaxed pace, every tour offers a deeper connection to Ireland's landscapes, heritage and people.

With a degree in History and more than twenty years photographing the landscapes of Ireland's North West, Ciaran McHugh has spent much of his life exploring the places, stories and people that make this corner of Ireland so special.
Ireland In Focus grew from a simple belief: the best journeys aren't measured by the number of places you visit, but by the people you meet, the stories you hear and the memories you bring home. Every tour is designed around that idea.
ABOUT CIARAN
Over many years, Ciaran has built trusted friendships with local families, historians, musicians, craftspeople and landowners. Those relationships open doors to experiences that simply can't be booked online or discovered in a guidebook. From hidden archaeological sites and private estates to welcoming family homes and artisan workshops, guests experience an Ireland that most visitors never see.
Photography is part of the journey, but it isn't the purpose of it. Whether you're travelling with a professional camera, a compact camera or simply your phone, Ciaran is always happy to help guests capture the places they visit. More importantly, he encourages people to slow down, notice the details and enjoy the experience of being there.

No two weeks are ever the same. Rather than following a rigid day-by-day itinerary, each tour evolves around the group, the weather and the opportunities that arise along the way. That flexibility allows space for unexpected discoveries and memorable experiences that often become the highlights of the week.
Above all, Ciaran wants every guest to feel less like a tourist and more like a friend visiting someone who knows the region well. By the end of the week, guests leave with far more than photographs. They leave with a genuine connection to Ireland's landscapes, heritage and people.
Away from Ireland In Focus, Ciaran is also the founder of Our Shoes, an Irish charity that has collected more than 50,000 pairs of sports shoes from schoolchildren across Ireland and donated them to children living in South African townships.
